Submission: Facebook group I Fucking Love Science posted a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Valentina Tereshkova becoming the first female astronaut. The comments contain a deluge of disgusting awfulness about kitchens, sandwiches, and “looking like a man”. This woman is a role model, a hero, and someone who deserves massive respect. Hearing people make sexist jokes about her makes me want to cry a little.

There are nearly 1000 posts there right now, so beware – the douchebaggery is strong with this thread. I think naming and shaming them all may need a team effort. Seriously, the amount of casual misogyny in there is literally nauseating. I feel sick…
